American Free Enterprise and Leadership Conference
| | Would you like to earn 2 semester college credits and experience life on a college campus this summer? Then plan to attend the American Free Enterprise and Leadership Conference June 17-22, 2007. The conference is an intensive one week introduction to Entrepreneurship, Business, Economics and the benefits of Free Enterprise. The course is open to all Ohio high school students. You will gain leadership, public speaking, social and life skills as well as how to start a business while working as a team member.

UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE SIFE TEAM WINS AT REGIONAL COMPETITION
The University of Rio Grande SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Team returned to Rio Grande as winners after participating n the Cincinnati, Ohio SIFE USA Regional Competition on Tuesday, March 20. The event was one of 17 SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held across the United States in March and April.
After presenting a report of their year-long community outreach projects to a panel of business leaders, the University of Rio Grande SIFE team was named a SIFE USA Regional Champion in the overall competition. The team also received recognition as a finalist in the SIFE USA Aflac Market Economics Competition, SIFE USA GE Consumer Products Program Sustainability Competition. The team will now advance to the national level of SIFE competition, at the SIFE USA National Exposition May 6-8 in Dallas, Texas.
SIFE is an international non-profit organization active on more than 1,400 university campuses in 48 countries. SIFE teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that focuses on: market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills, and business ethics.
During this academic year, the University of Rio Grande SIFE team conducted 20 projects, directly reaching 3,841 people in Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs and Vinton counties. All K-12 education projects are based on the indicators for the Economic section of Ohio?s Social Studies Academic Content Standards. URG SIFE?s Mission is to provide economic opportunity to help inspire and empower people in our community achieve their dreams through Free Enterprise Education.

The University of Rio Grande Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team returned to Rio Grande as winners after participating in the Cincinnati, Ohio SIFE USA Regional Competition on Friday, April 7, 2006. The event was one of 17 SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held across the United States in March and April.
SIFE members include Jana Jones, Springfield; Erica Shoemaker, Latham; Amy Lee, Racine; Tiffany Hager, Bidwell; Lindsey Thaxton, Vinton; Sarah Booth, Vinton; Luke Tackett, Ironton; Roaby Browning, Wellston; and Shaun Northup, Bidwell.

The team will now advance to the national level of SIFE competition, at the SIFE USA National Exposition May 21-23 in Kansas City, Missouri.

SIFE is an international non-profit organization present on over 1800 university campuses in more than 40 countries. SIFE teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that
teach: market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills and business ethics. Their projects are judged at competition on creativity, innovation and effectiveness.
During the academic year, the University of Rio Grande SIFE team organized
18 team projects, which were conducted in Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs and Vinton counties.
